7408 Disability and Posture Around the Clock: Therapeutic Positioning For All Ages (3 CEUs)

  • 28 Oct 2020
  • 9:00 PM - 11:00 PM

The 24-hour posture care management considers an individual’s posture, comfort and function over all hours in the day and night. This approach promotes health and optimal function in people with motor disabilities by building a foundation of body symmetry and stable posture.

This intervention is becoming recognized in the United States for its potential to protect and improve body alignment, support restful sleep, safeguard respiratory and digestive functions and reduce pain. Individuals with chronic or progressive motor disabilities often experience compromise of these functions over time as body shape and postural instability worsens, secondary to complications like joint contractures and dislocations, scoliosis and kyphosis.

The webinar provides an overview of practice with visual examples and longitudinal case studies to illustrate concepts underpinning posture care management, focusing on sleep and resting postures.
